Otto Wilhelm Alfons Hoops

Born in Johannesburg. After schooling in Kroonstad, Bloemfontein and Bothaville, he proceeded to Germany to complete high school studies covering chemistry, physics, hydraulics, etc. He studied law and economics at the Universities of Frankfort, Berlin and Hamburg, at the same time taking courses in engineering.
