A história se passa na pacata cidade de Milburn, (NY) e envolve um grupo de cinco amigos que formam a Sociedade Chowder: Ricky Hawthorne, John Jaffrey, Sears James, Lewis Benedikt e Edward Wanderley, que têm o costume de reunirem-se duas vezes por mês para contar histórias de fantasmas, acompanhados por charutos e bebidas. (...) When his twin brother David dies on the eve of his wedding, Don (Craig Wasson) travels back to his hometown in New England for the funeral services... He meets his grieving father Edward Charles Wanderley, who always preferred the other, more ambitious son. (...) When Edward and John die in mysterious circumstances, Don approaches the remaining elderly friends, requesting membership in their group, offering up a bizarre "ghost" story of his own.
