the long version
Henry Otis suffers feelings of insecurity and ineptitude brought on by the cold demands of a cynical father and the mean taunts of a grandly accomplished older brother. He takes solace in his preternatural ability to make real world events happen by pure force of will, but later becomes convinced that his wife's miscarriage, the violent deaths of his mother and then of his best friend are his fault.
