The medicine man

After spending the last nine years in Boston becoming a doctor, Brett Ballin feels the pull to return to Kansas where he grew up. This decision is made difficult by the fact that he is forced to leave the family that has adopted him and whom he has learned to love and trust. However, Boston has not been kind to Brett where he feels closed in so he yearns for the wide open spaces of the territory he grew up in. On the train to Kansas City he meets Ben Cameron, a rancher and businessman, who convinces Brett to help him on a cattle drive. They become good friends so Ben helps Brett establish himself as a doctor in Stockdale, Kansas. When tragedy strikes twice back in Boston, Brett finds he is the only person to help his adopted brother and also meets the Palace Queen, Julie Rush. Is it possible for him to have a life in the land he loves with an occupation he fought so hard to have as well as true happiness with a family of his own?
