The Glorious Revolution of 1688-91 was a fundamental watershed in the constitutional history of England; but the Revolution also extended to, and had a major impact on, Scotland, Ireland and North America, and had wide-ranging ramifications throughout Europe and especially in the Dutch Republic, which at the time was the world's leading commercial and financial power.
