Excellent if limited genealogy of the Perry/Dudley/Shepard families, as related to the historical use of the name Gardner as a Christian name. Frances Shepard covers the historical and genealogical roots thoroughly, in a comfortable, easy to read way. Born in 1898 and living until 1998 gives her a firsthand knowledge of many of the people mentioned in the book. Omissions which seem deliberate are due only to a lack of connection to the name Gardner. Photographs.
