Abstract: A thorough survey is made of the problems inherent in the synchronization of Parallel processes in computer systems. A variety of synchronization methods is presented as is the application of each such method in solving a typical resource allocation problem in a multi-process environment. A simulation of a solution to the problem is made in the PL/I language.
