India's dilemma was great. On one hand, its stand that Goa was a colony of Portugal on the indian sub-continent, and geographically, linguistically and ethnically a part of india was admitted as valid on all sides. The U.N. , the U.S The U.S.S.R., and practically the whole civilized world were opposed to Colonialism, and favoured the freedom of volonies from their foreign rulers.
